The term “Minutemen” is historically associated with the colonial American militia of the Founding Fathers. The name is derived from patriotic lore that the militiaman could be mustered and ready for combat against the Redcoats at a minute’s notice. When used in the modern context it often brings to mind a group of men who sporadically patrol our southern border in a vain attempt to stem the tide of illegal Mestizo immigration.
While the aforementioned groups might be the most widely recognized Minutemen, there was an additional group that bore this name active in the 60’s and 70’s. This group was organized and led by an eccentric veterinary druggist and rabid anti-communist by the name of Robert DePugh.
Robert DePugh was a self-styled patriot and fervent advocate of US domestic anti-communist resistance through localized militia groups. He also promoted the idea of civilian intelligence gathering on subversive elements operating in the US.
Considered an extremely controversial personality in his time by both the left and right, the man had more than one scrape with law enforcement over the course of his life and attracted the same sort of media hysteria we see today in regards to the modern militia movement.
In spite of DePugh’s many critics and the controversies that surrounded him during his lifetime, if you are looking for a quick read that will provide you with a simple and straightforward explanation of the communist endgame and how truly wretched and morally warped the leftist mind is, then give Blueprint For Victory a whirl. I found chapter 3 and the 26 formal articles of ‘Revolutionary Catechism’ to be particularly interesting. While many of the topics discussed are period-related (like the parts about Kennedy), others are still quite relevant today. The fact Hollywood is rife with communist propaganda and thespian activists was just as blatantly obvious then as it is today, and DePugh does a fine job of pointing this out.
A good reminder that the more things change, the more they stay the same. The leftists are fighting The Long War and DePugh was prepared to counter it – to borrow a phrase from a certain militant negro and hero of the left – “by any means necessary”.
